JAŚLISKA

Province: Podkarpackie
County: Krosno

Coat of arms (crest) of Jaśliska
Official blazon
Polish blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on June 30, 2016, but were already used for a long time before.

The two crossed stonemason's hammers refer to the centuries-old tradition of the stonework in the town of Jaśliska. Craftsmen of the stonemason's guild, using the raw material obtained at Góra Kamień, made millstones and, above all, grindstones. Stonework traditions in Jaśliska survived from medieval times until the early 20th century. The tools are visible on all preserved city seals from the 16th to the 18th century.

In 1559, the town of Jaśliska received the royal privilege to trade and store Hungarian wines for a period of 30 days. Until the mid-seventeenth century, the city of Jaśliska drew large profits, benefiting from this privilege. Hungarian wine was not only stored, but also bottled in the town. The trefoils, which are derived from grape leaves, are a symbol for this privilege.

The blue color refers to St. Mary.
