The arms were officially granted on November 15, 1971.

The Hagen estate was established in 1296 by Count Ludwig von Arnsberg. The oldest seal dates from the 15th century (known since 1439) and already shows a tree, which probably stands for the former forest, and a crosier for the patron saint of the local church, St. Nicholas. This composition was taken as arms in 1971 in arbitrary colours.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 15, 1971.

The Hagen estate was established in 1296 by Count Ludwig von Arnsberg. The oldest seal dates from the 15th century (known since 1439) and already shows a tree, which probably stands for the former forest, and a crosier for the patron saint of the local church, St. Nicholas. This composition was taken as arms in 1971 in arbitrary colours.

Literature: Belke et al., 1986
