Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 7, 1952.

The area is famous for viticulture, hence the grapes in the upper half.

The lower half shows a rose, which is derived from the name of the village, which may be derived from the Latin ibiscus, later German Eibisch, the Common hollyhoc. As hollyhoc flowers resemble a rose, a red rose was chosen.

The red and silver are the colours of the State of Trier, to which the area historically belonged.
