Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 20, 1937.

The eagle is the arms of the Counts of Arnsberg, as the area historically belonged to the County Arnsberg. The bend with the sword is taken from the arms of the Lords von Wicheln, who had several possessions in the area.
