SCHLANGEN
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Lippe (until 1973 Detmold)
Additions : 1970 Kohlstädt, Oesterholz-Haustenbeck (1939 Haustenbeck, Oesterholz)
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The municipality of Schlangen received its arms in 1950 and continued the use after the incorporation of other municipalities in 1970. The snake (Schlange) is a canting symbol. The municipality is situated in the former territory of Lippe, thus the rose of Lippe can be seen in the lower part of the arms. The oak leaves symbolise the large forests in the area.
