Official blazon
(de) In Rot ein silbern gerüsteten St. georg mit goldenem Federbusch auf dem Helm und goldener Lanze in der rechten Hand auf einem schwarzen Ross mit goldenem Zaumzeug im Kampf mit einem rotgezungten grünen Drachen.
Origin/meaning
St. George is the patron saint of the city and he already appeared on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from 1483. All later seals show the same composition, but sometimes the horse and knight is shown to face left instead of right.
