Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 15, 2005.
The tower is the Malakow-tower of the Marien-mine in the municipality and thus represents mining. The oak stands for nature and the former Possendorf municipality.
The base is taken from the arms of the Von Schill family, and represents Ferdinand von Schill, an early 19th century Prussian officer.
