EILENBURG

State : Sachsen

Wappen von Eilenburg

Official blazon

(de) In Blau eine goldene Burg mit rot bedachtem, offenem Tor; zwei gezinnte, spitzbedachte Seitentürme – zwischen beiden drei sechsstrahlige, silberne Sterne (1:2).

Origin/meaning

The arms show a city gate with three silver stars. The stars are taken from the medieval Lords of Eilenburg, known since 1170. The composition alreay appeared on the oldest known city seal, dating from 1294. During the late 19th century the city used the arms with a crown and a small tower as a crest.
