PARKANO

Region : Pirkanmaa
Former province : 1997-2009 Länsi-Suomi (until 1997 Häme)

Parkano Kuntavaakuna / Kommunvapen

Official blazon

Sinisessä kentässä aaltokoroinen kultahirsi ja sen pääliikkeenä pystyssä kultainen mänty, jonka kuoritut kyljet ovat hopeiset; saaneena männyn latvan kummallakin puolella seitsensakarainen hopeatähti.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 14, 1950.

The arms show a pine tree with peeled bark, which may be seen as canting, as the name may be derived from 'pine bark'.

I have no meaning for the stars or the wavy bar.
