Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1990, but have been used before.
The two saints are the patron saints of Zella (St. Blasius) and Mehlis (St. Maria Magdalena). The tools indicate the importance of iron-mining in the area, as well as the traditional arms manufacturing.
The old arms of Zella, which were not officially granted, showed St. Blasius with a small shield with mining tools.
