Selected collector's items from Germany:

FRECHEN

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Rhein-Erft Kreis (until 1975Köln)
Additions : 1975 Brauweiler, Lövenich, Türnich

Wappen von Frechen

Official blazon

In goldenen Feld einen schwarzen, rot bewehrten und bezungten Jülicher Löwen, der in den Pranken einen braunen Bartmannkrug hält.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 22, 1928.

The city did not have historical seals or arms, thus the arms were newly devised in 1928. The lion is the lion of the Dukes of Jülich, in which territory the town was situated. The town was well known historically for its pottery, hence the vase held by the lion.
