D'azur à l'ancre marine d'argent, à deux flambeaux d'or passés en sautoir et brochant sur le tout; au chef ondé d'azur) chargé de trois têtes de lion arrachées cousues de gueules et soutenu d'une divise ondée d'argent.

Origin/meaning

The lion heads are taken from the arms of Pierre Corneille a 17th century French tragedian who lived in the village. The anchor refers to the harbour and maritime trade of the village. The torches refer to the Shell oil refinery founded in the town in 1928.
