Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1895 by the local council.

The pentagram itself already appeared on the local seal of the council in 1568. The symbol can also be seen on the former town hall, built in 1719. The origin and meaning of the symbol, however, is not known. The colours were determined in 1895, as no old colours were known.
