Origin/meaning
These arms have been officially granted on 28th September 1984.
The arms of the village show traditionally a cross clechée; the two chess rooks at both sides are taken from the canting arms of the Rocabertí family, barons of Verges. The castle of La Tallada (11th century) belonged to the counts of Empúries (shown here by their arms, barry Or and Gules), later to the barony of Verges and, since 1587, it was linked to the Crown through the royal council of Verges (represented by the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon, four pales Gules on Or).
