History:  
History: Reserve Squadron VF-871 activated on 20 July 1950 for the Korean War, it was redesignated VF-123 on 4 February 1953 and on 12 April 1958 VF-53 (third use of that designation). On 20 June 1962 it become VF-143 (second use of that designation). The present designation was 27 April 2006.

History: Reserve Squadron VF-871 activated on 20 July 1950 for the Korean War, it was redesignated VF-123 on 4 February 1953 and on 12 April 1958 VF-53 (third use of that designation). On 20 June 1962 it become VF-143 (second use of that designation). The present designation was 27 April 2006.

Homeport: NAS Oceana, Virginia.
