ARIRANHA

State : São Paulo

Ariranha.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 20, 1991.

The castle symbolises the shelters built in the time of settlement for passers-by as a protection against the rain and wild animals. The cross symbolises the first chapel in the area and the start of the development of the city. The setting sun symbolises that the city was often chosen by travellers to spend the night. The base shows the Ariranha river, from which the city takes its name.

The shield is surrounded by sugar cane and orange branches, the main agricultural crops in the area.
