WAGRIEN
German |
Origin/meaningWagrien or Wagria is the northeastern part of Holstein in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, corresponding roughly to the districts of Plön and Ostholstein. It was never an independent state in the Holy Roman Empire. Arms have been assigned or attributed to the 'region' of Wagria. The arms appear on maps and in armorials (image shown above), but have had, as far as I know never had any official status. They did not appear in the arms of the Counts of Holstein. The arms are a bull's head, with or without the small shield of Holstein. It is still part of the arms of Schönberg (Holstein).
