====Origin/meaning====
The arms show St. Nicolas, patron saint of the city. The saint is already used on the oldest seal of the city, dating from the 2nd half of the 14<sup>th</sup> century.<br/>
In 1976 the city adopted the new arms, which were only granted in 1991, whereas previously the city used arms with a single tower, symbol for the local castle ruin.
