EDELSBACH BEI FELDBACH

State : Steiermark
District : Südoststeiermark (until 2015 Feldbach)

Wappen von Edelsbach bei Feldbach
Official blazon
German blazon wanted !
English

The arms were granted on April 11th, 1988.

Edelsbach is quite a "watery" municipality. The wavy bar in the arms represents the "bach" (stream) in the name of the municipality. In 1370, the name is mentioned as "Erlspach". The branches of Erle (alder) point in the same direction, of course, as the alder is a water-loving tree and often found near brooks. "Rohr" is another local name, meaning reed or bulrush, which also needs damp soil or little ponds to grow.
