Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1952.
Wolbeck was in Medieval times a town and the capital of a province of the State of Münster. The oldest seal of the town is known from 1310, but dates from the late 13th century. It already showed a tree with three birds. The tree is probably canting, the name is derived from Woldbeke, or Wood near a small river. The original seal showed the tree standing on a small mountain, which in the late 19th century was replaced by the wavy base, representing a river, thus making the arms more canting.
Why and when the third bird was removed is not known.
