GIERSHAGEN

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Hochsauerlandkreis (until 1975 Brilon)
Amt : Amt Niedermarsberg
Incorporated into : 1975 Marsberg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 13, 1958.

The arms indicate that the village was for many centuries a possession of the Bredelar Abbey. The arms thus show a monk, a crosier and the chequered bend of the Cistercian Order.
