Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on November 11, 1977.
As the old arms could not be combined, new arms were devised. The center of the arms is the escarbuncle of kleveKleve as the area belonged to the duchy of Kleve. The large circle represents the new municipality, the smaller ones, the old municipalities. The wavy fess in the lower part represents the river Issel, that runs through the municipality. The green landscape is represented through the green colour.
The previous arms were granted on ?.
The arms show the old watchtowe rin the village, which was also used as a mill. The small shield shows the escarbuncle of Kleve. The wheat-ear symbolises the agricultural character of the village. The other plant is a broom, as broom was planted widely in the 19th century to turn the wastelands into fertile agricultural soil.
