State : Nordrhein-Westfalen

Amt : Amt Eslohe (until 1975)

Wappen von Eslohe/Arms (crest) of Eslohe
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 20, 1976.

The arms are derived form and nearly identical to the arms of the former Amt Eslohe, to which all the former municipalities belonged.

The previous arms were granted on June 24, 1966:

Wappen von Eslohe/Arms (crest) of Eslohe

These arms are based on the old seal of Eslohe, dating from 1770. The arms show the symbols of the two patron saints of the abbey in Meschede, to which the local church belonged, the key for St. Peter and the sword for St. Paul. The meaning or origin of the lance is not clear. The black and silver colours are chosen as the colours of the State of Köln, to which the area belonged after 1444.
