Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on Februiary 12, 1938.
The chief shows the arms of the Hohenzollern family, as they (as Margraves of Nürnberg) acquired the estate and village of Schönwald in 1412. The lower half, three pine trees, is canting, the name means 'beautiful forest'.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
