German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

FINTHEN

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Mainz city (until 1969 Mainz)
Incorporated into : 1969 Mainz

Wappen von Finthen/Arms (crest) of Finthen
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1965, but have been used for a longer time. The arms are derived from a 17th century seal that showed only a horseshoe. The horseshoe is a common village sign in the Pfalz area. The colours are taken from the arms of the State of Mainz, to which the village belonged.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
