Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1964.

The small shield shows a Paschal Lamb (Agnus Dei), symbol of St. John Baptist, the patron saint of the local church. The cross is derived from the arms of the Lords of Cleeberg, who owned the village and surroundings until the late 13th century. They were thus the first known Lords of Nierder-Mörlen.

There is only one seal known for the village, dating from the late 18th century. It shows a wheel with a hat, both placed above a crossed sword and crosier. The wheel and hat, as well as the other symbols, indicate the fact that in the 18th century the village was ruled by the Archbishops of Mainz. The arms of the State of Mainz showed a wheel.
