Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 30, 2003.
The arms are canting, showing a chicken (Henne) on a hill (Berg).
The arms have been used by the Counts of Henneberg from the 13th century until 1583, when they became extinct in the male line. They counts had their original castle, Henneburg, in the village and were on eof the major land owners in the current state of Thüringen. Their arms appear in numerous municipal arms.
