JOSEPH WILHELMUS MARIA BAETEN

Born : April 8, 1893
Deceased : August 26, 1964

Bishop of Breda, 1951-1961

Arms of Joseph Baeten

Official blazon

Van keel met een gouden zon zonder aangezicht, in den schildvoet vergezeld van drie zilveren schuine kruisjes faas-wijze geplaatst.

Origin/meaning

The sun refers to St. Mary, the patron saint of the diocese. The crosses are taken from the arms of the city of Breda and the sun thus illuminates the city and diocese.

The motto is taken from a 8th century homily of Paulus Diaconus.
