GIACOMO ZAFFRANI

Born : September 29, 1878
Deceased : May 6, 1960

Bishop of Guastalla, 1932-1960

Arms of Giacomo Zaffrani

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The symbolism of the arms is explained by the motto: "FORTITER ET SUAVITER" (Boldly and gently). It indicates the will of the prelate for a decisive but comprehensive and paternal pastoral activity. The "strength" is represented with the lion, the "sweetness" with the flowers which, in assonance with the bishop's surname, are drawn like saffron flowers ("zafferano" in Italian).
