Born : August 31, 1894
Deceased : April 11, 1963
Bishop of Augsburg, 1949-1963
Official blazon

Origin/meaning
The arms are quartered and show in I and IV a cross. This cross is known as the cross of St. Ulrich, the patron saint of the diocese, and was part of the arms of the wo large abbeys in Augsburg, St. Ulrich and St. Afra. The two other fields show the Agnus Dei as a generic Christian symbol.
