Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1935 (without the spindle) and again on July 17, 2000.

The ship already appeared on the 19th century seals of the town. The boat represents the importance of shipping on the Oder-Havel-Kanal and the Finowkanal. The spindle refers to the fact that the village was founded on the 18th century as a wool processing (spinners) village.
