Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 12, 1951.

The wolf in the arms is taken from the State of Passau, as a large part of the area historically belonged to Passau. The wavy bend symbolises the Pram river. The pales are taken from the arms of Oberösterreich.

Literature : Baumert, H.E. : Oberösterreichische Gemeindewappen, Linz, 1996.
