Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the arms of the De Thou family, lords of the village in the 15th and 16th century. The family arms showed three horseflies and a golden chevron. In the municipal arms the lower fly has been replace by a pestle and mortar, for the local patron saints St. Cosmas and St. Damian.
