RAF STATION ACKLINGTON, ROYAL AIR FORCE
History: Formed as No. 7 Armament Training Station on April 1, 1938.
Official blazon
A lion rampant gules grasping in the dexter paw two arrows one sable, one Or points upwards in saltire and resting the sinister paw on a book erect azure/Or.
Motto: Heri docendum hodie implendum = Yesterday it had to be taught, today it had to be carried out.
Origin/meaning
The Two Arrows indicate fighting spirit. The closed book symbolises that the Training mission of No. 7 Armament Trainint Station is now concluded and remembered.The lion also alludes to the fighting strenght of the Station and the Nation.
