THE LONDON SCOTTISH, BRITISH ARMY

History: Raised in 1859 by Scotsmen living in London as the 15 Middlesex (London Scottish) Rifle Volunteers. Upon the foundation of the Territorial Force in 1908 this became 15th (County of London) Battalion, The London Regiment (London Scottish).

Official blazon

St Andrew's Cross, thereon the Lion of Sctoland; on the cross above the lion a scroll inscribed "London", and on the cross below the lion a scroll inscribed "Scottish"; the lion, cross and scrolls within a wreath of thistles, th lion and centre portion of the cross upon a circle inscribed "Strike sure S. Africa 1900-02". In silver plate for officers and in white metal for other ranks.

Origin/meaning

The badge symbolises the Scottish character of the Unit.
