Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ?

The cross is taken from the arms of Wilhelm Arnoldi, Bishop of Trier (1842-1864), who was born in the village. The colours are those of the Diocese of Trier, to which the area belonged. The horseshoe is the symbol for St. Aegidius, the local patron saint.

Historically the area belonged to the Duchy of Luxembourg until 1795; this is symbolised by the colours red, blue and silver of Luxembourg.
