Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 27, 2000.
The deer head refers to the huge deer shot in 1696 by King Friedrich III of Prussia in the local forest. Today a small memorial is still visible and the antler itself is now in Castle Moritzburg in Sachsen. The birch leaf refers to the birch forests as well as to the origin of the name Briezen (from breza, birch).
The base refers to the Oder-Spree canal.
