Gespalten und halbgeteilt. Rechts in Silber ein schwarzer Schrägrechtswellenbalken, links oben in Blau ein goldenes, an den verdickten Enden einfach gekerbtes Steckkreuz, links unten in Gold zwei rote Balken Origin/meaningSchwartau received city rights and the prefix Bad in 1912. The arms were granted in 1948. The right half shows the canting Schwartau river, whereas the left half shows the cross and the bars derived from the arms of Oldenburg. Schwartau was a possession of the Bishops of Lübeck, and from 1776-1918 it was part of the State of Oldenburg. The city rights were also granted by the State of Oldenburg.
