ELKENROTH

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Altenkirchen
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Betzdorf-Gebhardshain (until 2017 Verbandsgemeinde Gebhardshain)

Wappen von Elkenroth/Arms (crest) of Elkenroth
Official blazon
German

Unter durch rot-silbernen Zinnenschnitt geteiltem Schildhaupt in Rot 3 schräglinke aneinander gereihte silberne Rauten, oben begleitet von einer silbernen Rose mit goldenem Butzen.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1987.

The three diamonds are derived from the medieval Lords of Gebhardshain, who had several possessions in the area. The chief symbolises the local castle, owned by the Von Gevertzhagen family since 1220. The rose is the symbol of St. Elisabeth, patron saint of the village.
