HERZFELD

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm (until 1969 Prüm)
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Arzfeld

Wappen von Herzfeld/Arms (crest) of Herzfeld
Official blazon
German

Rot über Silber durch blau-silbernen Wellenschrägbalken geteilt, vorn grüner Eichenzweig mit einem Blatt und zwei Eicheln, hinten ein silbernes Herz und ein silberner steigender Hirsch.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 2016.

The blue and silver wavy bend refers to the Prümerbach and the Irsenbach rivers in the municipality. The heart (Herz) and deer (Hirsch) are both canting elements, the name may have been derived from Hirsch-feld. The oak branch refers to the protected old oak tree in the village (around 300 years old).

The colours red and silver are those of the former rulers of the area, the Abbey of Prüm and the Counts of Vianden.
