Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
ASPERG
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Ludwigsburg
Additions : 1909 Hohenasperg
Official blazon
In Gold auf grünem Dreiberg eine grüne Aspe, begleitet von zwei aufgerichteten, mit den Enden auswärts gekehrten schwarzen Hirschstangen.
Origin/meaning
Asperg got city rights already in 1310, which were renewed in 1785. The first known seal dates from 1560 and shows an aspen (canting), under two deer antlers (the arms of Württemberg). In 1963 the three-topped hill was added. In addition to this, 17th and 18th century seals showed some stars around the tree. The present arms are used since the last century.
