LEININGEN

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Rhein-Hunsrück Kreis
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Hunsrück-Mittelrhein (until 2020 Verbandsgemeinde Emmelshausen)

Wappen von Leiningen (Hunsrück)/Arms (crest) of Leiningen (Hunsrück)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The lower half is derived from the arms of the Counts von der Leyen zu Gondorf, who ruled the village for a long time. The upper half shows the acid spring of Leiningen-Lamscheid, which was already mentioned in the 16th century for its healthy water. The jugs symbolise the export of the water, which started in the 18th century.
