Origin/meaning

The orange tree has been taken from the municipal arms of Naranjito, the birthplace of the bishop.

The Paschal Lamb, symbol of Christ the Redeemer and its Precursor, Saint John Baptist, is, in one or another of its traditional representations, the heraldic emblem of Puerto Rico, its capital, and the Archdiocese of San Juan.
