Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on September 17, 1977.
The red field and the sword indicate the battles fought in the region in the war of 1932. The fleurde-lis is the symbol of St. Mary, the local patron saint. The base represents the Vergueiro range, mountains on the limit of the municipality. The cross symbolises the first chapel erected in the region.
The shield is flanked by corn and beans, the main crops in the region.
