THE ROYAL RIFLES OF CANADA, CANADIAN ARMY

History: Raised 28 February 1862 as 8th Battalion Volunteer Militia Rifles, becoming after a number of namechanges 8th Regiment "Royal Rifles" on 8 May 1900. And on 29 March 1920 Royal Rifles of Canada. It was amalgamated 22 February 1965 with the Les Voltiguers de Québec. This was undone 1 November 1966, and the Royal Rifles of Canada was reduced to zero strength and transferred to the Supplementary Order of Battle.
