LASSAN
State : Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Disctrict (Kreis) : Vorpommern-Greifswald (1994-2011 Ostvorpommern (until 1994 Anklam))
Official blazon
In Blau ein silberner Fisch, kreisförmig begleitet oben von drei und unten von vier sechsstrahligen goldenen Sternen
Origin/meaning
The arms with the fish already appeared on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from the 13th century. The fish most likely is a symbol for the importance of fishing for the city at the time. The stars were also present on the first seal, but have varied regularly during the centuries. At present the number is fixed to seven.
