Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 1, 1983.
Meranges is situated in the high valley of the river Duran, and over the village stands out the Puigpedrós (2.914 m), a high mountain of the Pyrenees. On the arms, the mount of rocks symbolizes the Puigpedrós, the wavy bar is the river Duran, and the pine cones belong to a "pi negre" (Catalan name for the hooked pine, Pinus uncinata, literally "black pine"), the most abundant in the municipality.
