MATT

Canton : Glarus
Incorporated into : 2011 Glarus-Süd

Wappen von Matt/Arms (crest) of Matt

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on June 12, 1941.

The arms show the local mountains with flames and in the upper part three burning discs. These flames and discs symbolise the local Schybenfleugen tradition. At the evening before Carnival burning wooden discs or squares were placed on long hasel sticks and sluch from a cliff into the village.
