Official blazon

Van azuur met een leeuw van zilver beladen met drie fazen van keel, genageld, getongd en gekroond van goud - het schild overtopt met een kroon met dertie parels, waarvan drie verheven.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 5, 1955.

The arms are those of the Sint-Baafs Abbey in Gent, to which the area historically belonged. See also Lochristi, Oostakker, Sint-Amandsberg and Sint-Lievens-Houtem in Belgium and Wattrelos in France.
