Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
SAMTGEMEINDE BEDERKESA
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Cuxhaven (until 1977 Wesermünde)
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1971.
The key is taken from the arms of Bremen, as from 1381-1735 the town of Bederkesa and the surrounding region were a possession of the city of Bremen. The key is also part of the arms of Bad Bederkesa. The eagle is taken from the arms of Ringstedt, whereas several of the municipalities use either oak-leaves or a wavy bar in their arms.
